Sulfur (S) is receiving its due as the fourth essential macronutrient and should be particularly used for soils with low organic matter, low cation exchange capacity (CEC), and for sandy/coarse-textured soils, and silt loam soils with moderate organic matter levels. If organic matter is below 3% or in high rainfall areas with good drainage, most crops will likely give a positive response to sulfur applications.
