Ethanolamine is an important plant metabolite for both the synthesis of phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylcholine (PC), two major phospholipids in plant membranes, and for the production of the plant-signaling lipids N-acylethanolamines that modulate plant physiological processes.
